There are 1.6 billion people around the world living without power or electric light. That’s one quarter of the world’s population. These people are using candles or kerosene lanterns. Kerosene lanterns cause home fires and produce CO2 and toxic fumes. Families are spending up to 30% of their total income on this inefficient and hazardous power source. On top of that, often the light given from a kerosene lantern is not even strong enough to read with at night. Studying stops when the sun goes down.

In rural Nigeria only 5% of people have access to electricity, yet 80% have mobile phones. In areas like this across the world, mobile phones are not used to tweet or update statuses, but are a necessity. They reduce time and energy spent traveling. They help get jobs and start businesses. Mobile phones are allowing people to earn a living. But without a reliable personal power source, keeping this lifeline alive is not an easy task.

We believe that providing solar technology that will power mobile businesses and produce a night time light source will enrich peoples’ lives, change their future and reduce the need for hazardous kerosene lamps.

Better health, education and business lead to a better future.

We are banging our heads together to find a way to directly contribute towards the future of these people, if you would like to get involved please contact us.
